Hey, first of all, great work. The stuff you're pulling off with JavaScript makes Flash look overdone and bulky.

One quick question. I know that in the code for ImageMenu there's the onClick function and the Open function, but I was curious as to the syntax that these are implemented with. I've been through 2 years of Java, but OOP still gives me a headache sometimes.

Basically all I'm looking for is to be able to load a different DIV using mooTools Kwik and ImageMenu.

If anything, a sample of how use the "javascript:blahblah" in a link for ImageMenu whould be awesome.

Hope you can help me out. And keep up the awesome work.

Hello,

thank you very much for sharing your work.
i discovered your image menu and loved it.

I was wondering what to change to make the urls open in new windows (_blank target) instead of just having the url name appear in a box when an image is clicked.

thanks again !

Hi,

Yes, ImageMenu is great.

Ethan, change :
var myMenu = new ImageMenu('imageMenu', {
openWidth:310,
onOpen:function(e,i){console.log(e)}
});

To :
var myMenu = new ImageMenu('imageMenu', {
openWidth:310,
onOpen:function(e,i){location=(e)}
});

Thanks too.
Regards.

Hey,

thanks "anonymous"

since i'm completely new to javascript, i just didn't know how to use the piece of code you gave

how to add a url after location= ?

so i fooled around and finally it was really simple.

i just changed
onOpen:function(e,i)

by

onClick:function(e,i)

i don't know whether it correct or not, but it does the work :)

thank you anyway (:

-> anonymous : have a look at this page's code it may help you

Hi,
thanks very much for your work.

I have made ImageMenu with 6 items and it works fine. Wanted to add one more but when the page loads the 7th item doesn't show until you put your mouse over it then the last image appears and it works fine.
Thanks.

Great job, is there a way to maintain the state of the menu click on browser refresh?

the menu option clicked should still remain stretched without using lightbox.

working with divs

thanks

Question: I have image menu up and running on my site but since I upgraded from FF 2.0.0.7 to FF 2.0.1.3 the scrolling mouse over effect no longer works. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Hi,

I found a bug with Imagemenu, but only online with Safari 3 on Mac (didn t test with Safari 3 on PC), images open but don t close...

This bug doesn t appear on offline tests. Only online, very strange...

Thank you for your scripts, you can see a beta of my upcoming portfolio : http://www.vdcrea.com/beta/
using ImageMenu and Multibox.

Many graphic designers use Mac (potential boss), so i m affraid to have to change everything to use another javascript library...

You done an awesome work !
Thank you.

Hi! I have a question about the image menu. I wanted to have the menu load with the first picture fully open. Is there a way to do that?

hey,

great work. thank you.

I have a question:

is it possible to make the image width wider than the imagemenu itself?
if my imagemenu contains just two images for example instead of five?

Hi, great work on the menu. I love it so much, I can't believe it can be done without flash.

Quick question, I hope someone can help me, I would like to make first image open by default, is it possible?

I change open from null to 0, but I will need to rollover it once before first image stays open.
I am not good with javascript so I appreciate any inputs :)

image menu is great but I won't be using it because I was on the market for a combination slideshow/menu.

Kind of like this but not as ugly: http://css-tricks.com/examples/FeaturedContentSlider/

Or even better this: http://www.frontpageslideshow.net/

If I had the time to learn I would totally clone the last example and release it out to the web. It's pretty great.

Keep up the good work though.

In response to Lenny's question, I was experiencing the same problem.

It turns out that you need to set the width of the "#imageMenu ul" to exactly twice the width of the #imageMenu div.

Don't know why it works, but it does!

Thanks for this, I placed it in my website, check it here www.multipack.com.au...
Thanks again.

How can I change image in imageMenu?! thx

Anonymous said...

Hello. Thank you for this great script. I have a question... for example you choose a first picture. Is there any way to load a "div" tag with mysql query? ;)

Anonymous said...

I've used the script before and am sure I had the same problem but the forum has been taken down.

The image menu displays fine locally on both IE and Firefox. But when uploaded to a server on Firefox I can only see the list with no images displaying. On IE I see the borders and movemnt, but no images show. Can anyone help - this is driving me nuts! :)

hey is there a way of leaving the clicked image open after navigating to another page? I've used one of the methods posted here to open a different page whereby I changed the onOpen to onClick. However when the other page opens, the clicked image closes again. any ideas?

Thanks

Would someone please make this idiot proof.
Love the imagemenu and would love to use it on my site but having to change code etc is giving me a headache.

Could someone build this as an extension where you just need to add your own photo's and upload the whole thing to your server.

Also while you are reading this any insight into why I get a list instead of the imagemenu would be appreciated

Hi all

Hope someone here can shed some light on my problem.

I'm trying to get imageMenu to work on my site, everything looks fine but the images are not showing although they are visible in Live View in Dreamweaver.

It has taken me two weeks of trial and error to get this far but now I am really stumped.

I have my site on a test address at www.teddy-bears-uk.com

Any help appreciated

Like several others here, I would love to know how to select item to pre-open. The site says "select item to pre-open" is a feature, but there's no documentation on how to enable this, and changing null to 0 or to 1 does not work until AFTER a person has swept their mouse across the display.

Will said...

UPDATE: Hey, you actually CAN select an item to be pre-open, but it cannot be item 0. It only works if you are starting with item 1 (the second image) onward. That's good enough.

I'm not a programmer -- working on a nonprofit site for nothing. In IE7, for some reason the first image keeps "hiding" under my Spry sidebar! Somebody help! It looks ok at home (where browser is more updated). Go to c-w-c.org. Email me @ irwinpc2@gmail.com since I don't ck these posts often.
