Hi,

I'm still seeing an error on http://www.phatfusion.net/multibox.
When you click on say the first image, it opens fine. But when you then click the back button on your browser and then click "multibox" from the list of options on http://www.phatfusion.net and then click the first image again it throws an error.

Hope this can be fixed.

Thanks Samuel!! for the Quick Fix on that repeatedly opening an image on Firefox bug!!

I also had a double margin bug for the ".MultiBoxTitle" and ".MultiBoxNumber" in IE6.0, but was able to get by it with adding 'display: inline;' to the "multibox.css" file.

when using layers in a site with absolute positioning the window always opens at the top instead of in the center of the screen. Is there any way around this?

The in-line HTML window does not open in the center of the screen but aligns to the left.

The only way to cure this is to set openFromLink to false!

Was you aware of this? Is this fixable? I did email you but you didn't reply.

I noticed a lot of redundant empty space at the bottom of a page when Multibox is used to display an image gallery with HTML. If you take a look at the phatfusion multibox page, you can see lotsa empty space at the bottom of the page too.
Is there any way to fix that?

Thanks.

Using Multibox for errors, warnings etc.

Is it possible to require some action like pressing ESC, clicking a specific button etc. so that the dialog does not close accidentally before the user has been made totally aware of the message?

Cheers!

Hi there,

is it possible to change the graphics for the nex/prev/close elements with normal text?
I've looked at lightbox.js but I didn't figured out how.

Thanks in advance,
I like lightbox very much.

Hi guys/gals, I can use imagemenu and multibox just fine. How would I combine the two :) I've tried adding the div/class in the li but does not work. ANy suggestions?

Is it just me or is there an issue with Multibox working correctly in IE7?

I have build 1.3 and when I open an image in a multibox the multibox will 'collapse' and the image will disappear.

The problem is intermittent and does not seem to happen in Firefox and Safari.

Great script! Any help would be appreciated.

Code:

[div class="multiBoxDesc mb1"]est.[/div][a href="img-zoom.jpg" id="mb1" class="mb" title="Test"][img src="img.jpg" alt="Test" /][/a]

Replaced with brackets because HTML code not allowed in comment.

Hey I just want to say that multibox is great and I love it, however no matter how many sites I attempt to do this in I can not get the SWF to work properly. I always have to do another HTML page and put that in the multibox too, which kind of defeats the purpose really I can do that with Lightbox.

Anyway if I search online there is another person having this issue two an posted a few different places and can not get anyone to respond.

I wish I could figure this out!

How do I have two separate instances of multibox on the same page? Right now, it combines all the jpgs into one group, even though I gave the two groups different ID's.

How can I call It from flash?

Nice picture popup. And it was very easy to install. I have one question.

Is it possible to have two smallpicture to link to the same popuppicture.
I have one big thumb and 3 small thumbs, the big thumb is the same picture as the first small thumb. And now i get 4 pictures in the popup instead of 3 pictures

There seems to be a bug with Phatfusion in safari. When you click on the flv example it plays it the first time but when you close it and then try to play it again you get a blank screen but the video audio still plays in the background. It continues to do this until you empty the cache. This is a huge issue if you are looking to use multibox for flash videos. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? It is even happening on the phatfusion site: www.phatfusion.net/multibox. Please let me know if anyone knows a fix, thanks!

Hello Samuel,

I have installed the multi-box like you described and everything works wonderfully. I would like to use the multi-box as a pop-up window. Therefore I load a HTML page with the help of your multi-box in an iframe. There shall be two kinds of links in the pop-up:

1. Links on external pages (multi-box shall close and call the external link, I have solved this with "_parent")

and

2. Links, which open a new pop-up out of the existing pop-up (so the old pop-up shall close and a new pop-up with new heights and widths details shall be opened)

How do I solve this? It would be nice if you could help me.

Thanks for creating the wonderful Multibox. I am using it on a web site and having a minor issue that I have not been able to resolve.

When the page using Multibox loads for the first time, it briefly displays the contents of the hidden description.

e.g. <div class="multiBoxDesc mb1"> Here's the description </div>
displays "Here's the description" above the <a> tag element.

It doesn't show the hidden description the next time the page loads, presumably because it's loading it from cache.

Here's a link to the page were you can see it happen http://test.rwrightarchitects.com/projects/project_list.htm

I would appreciate any feedback on how to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

In addition to the hidden titles showing, I am also having the same problem with the overlay not extending to the bottom of the page in many instances.

This results in the popup being partially on the gray and partially on the white background.

The only temporary solution I found to this problem was to set the "container" height and width in "overlay.js" to greater than 100% -- In my case I had to set the width to 150% and height to 200%, the downside to this is that it makes the page wider and taller than the content.

I'd love to get this resolved.

Emanuel said...

yeah, did that too, but my desgin (bottom-fixed Footer) doesn't like that.

If it clicks, it will become an error by Internet Explorer.

What should I do? I am sorry for strange English.

Hi I just emailed you a few bugs that I noticed.

I'll summarize them below in case it helps others encountering the same issues:

1. Multibox causes scrollbars to appear on browsers. The scrollbars causes design elements to 'jump' on certain websites

Solution: I edited 'overlay.js' to read:

Line 46: 'width': '99%',
Line 47: 'height': '99%',

Now, I am not sure if this breaks something else. It may need a better solution or more testing.

2. In IE7 on Windows XP, clicking a thumbnail to open a Multiboxed image causes the image to open properly at first, then quickly close. If you click on the image a second time, it seems to work fine. If you refresh it, the bad behavior starts again.

Anonymous said...

About the overlay height problem:
I got it running by uncommeting the commented line 80, and commenting the line 81. This should sum up the height of the window and the scroller and expand it through the whole window. Well it worked for me!

Hi. Your page says Multibox works with Safari but I'm still seeing the same bug reported way back in 2008 - the first time you view a .flv file in Safari it works fine, but subsequent views do not. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious. Can you tell me if this bug has been fixed, otherwise I'll look elsewhere for a suitable replacement script. Thanks.

Great script! but try as I might I cannot get the Multibox to load an flv.....anybody with a suggestion?

Hi Samuel,

I'm having a problem with the following:
I'm trying to use multibox to show some images in a part of the page that is loaded with AJAX.

I already cheked that all script tags are processed. The only part is not working is the multibox, all other scripts are working fine.

It's like there is a problem with the window.addEvent('domready', function(){... like if it is never being executed.

Hope you can help me solve this.
Thanks in advance.

Unknown said...

For those with extra padding.......You may be seeing extra space that the anchor tags use; i.e. the hidden ones used to reference the images in your gallery. I may be way off but try applying a css class to the tags with 0 height??

Just my 2 cents...It might only be worth half a penny though...

Hi, I'm confirming bug when displaying html element in Windows Internet Explorer 7 (Invalid argument). Overlay is activated but not window MultiBoxContainer.
IE6 and other browsers are just fine as well as iFrame and Ajax in IE7.

Error may be replicated at the project site: http://www.phatfusion.net/multibox/

i think the problem with the overlay could be the fact that someone else fixed multibox for mootools 1.2, and that the fix was made om MB for MT 1.1...

So the fixed version of MB for MT 1.2 might not have that fix?

anyway, i'm still have the overlay height problem, any good solution yet, or am i misreading something?

thnks,
richard

Aditya Kulkarni said...

@Leandro

i observed the same thing...this is what i came up with...

function callMultiBox() {
box = new MultiBox('mb', {descClassName: 'multiBoxDesc', useOverlay: true});

}

copy-paste the above function over the existing eventlistener...

now in a link, put onclick="callMultiBox();return false;"

Aditya Kulkarni said...

am using onclick as above to initialize multibox...

when i close the multibox, the class called 'MultiBoxControls' stays there, so it's only the black background with the controls...only refreshing the page removes it...

is that a coding error or a bug?

italotejada said...

Hi, first of all I would like to say great job on your scripts and tools, and many thanks for sharing them with everyone.

I am posting because I am having a problem with multibox. How open a multibox from Javascript, and not from link (with "a" tag).

How i can use onOpen and onClose?

How stop the background music from html page loaded in multibox when it close?

If you could release a fix or if anyone could post on how I can overcome this problem I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work! :)

Hi, thanks for this great control, i'm having an error, when a postback is fired by another buttom on the page, it's cause the link of multibox duplicate the link, and when i click on it, it's open a new page, not the multibox.

Thanks in advance.

TheSchaef said...

The issue with the overlay box appears to be that it calculates page dimensions at the time it executes, which may or may not correspond to the page dimensions on final load.

Even executing on domready will load the overlay function when the DOM has loaded, but assets may still be in progress. Changing the addEvent to something like load should cause the overlay to cover a scrolling page every time. The trade is that if you click a link before the page has loaded, it loads the link as normal because the script has not yet been invoked.

A little something I tweaked for multibox because it doesn't seem right, when setting the position for images that may exceed the top or left of page:

this.options.offset x/y
if (top/left < 0) top/left = 0

It's nice to have that safety net but the frame is designed so that the (x) button protrudes from the top right corner of the frame with negative-position styling, meaning it protrudes right out of the top of the page at top = 0.

I set my top and left to if (>50) = 50, but YMMV on how much you want to offset the images. Maybe make this another optional value for users?

Hi, Samuel

First of all, thanx for the great tool.

I'm having the following problem: on every page I've installed the Multibox it shows a empty space, right under the last element of the code. In my case, I have a footer, wich is supposed to be the lowermost element on my page. I have noticed that it happens on your multibox homepage too.

Is there any solution for this problem?

Thanks
